ECB confirms England’s home season schedule in 2020

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced the home season fixture of the Men’s team for 2020. They are set to host West Indies, Pakistan, Australia and Ireland next year and will play a total of 6 Tests, 6 One-Day Internationals and 6 T20Is from June to September.

Australia who are currently playing the Ashes in England will return to the country next year in July to face the home team in a three-match ODI and T20I series each. The three matches in the shortest format will be played on July 3,5 and 7 in Durham, Old Trafford and Headingley respectively while the ODI series is scheduled to commence on July 11 at Lord’s. The remaining two games of the series will take place at the Ageas Bowl and the County Ground in Bristol on July 14 and 16 respectively.

Summer begins with a series against West Indies

However, England’s home summer will begin with the Jason Holder-led West Indies side visiting the country for three Tests. The series will get underway on June 4 at the Kia Oval with the other two matches set to be played at Edgbaston and Lord’s on June 12 and 25. All the series are equally important keeping in mind the first edition of the World Test Championship and England will look to make the most of the home season.

After the Australia series, England will next host Pakistan for three Tests and the same number of T20 Internationals. Lord’s will host its second Test and the third international game of the summer as the Test series between the two will commence at the venue on July 30. The Old Trafford and the Trent Bridge are the venues for the other two Test matches.

A lot of T20 Internationals will be played across the world over the next 12 months with the T20 World Cup set to take place in October in 2020 in Australia. Both England and Pakistan will look to fine-tune things in the three T20Is which they will play as the event will be only a month or so away from getting underway. Ireland is the last team to visit England next year as they will play three ODIs against the home team.
