Australia is currently playing England in the five-match ODI series in England and the hosts were crushed in the first four ODIs with one more game to go. The World No 1 side England were dominant throughout the series as Aussies failed to match the opposition in the series. England will next take on India starting from July 3.

The Indian skipper Virat Kohli seems to be not bothered about England’s dominance in ODI format. The 29-year-old Indian captain feels India has an upper hand in the form of wrist-spinners, which Aussies lacked in the ongoing series. Chahal and Kuldeep are going to make a huge difference in the upcoming exciting series.

“What’s been the difference for us is the two X-factors we have in the middle overs,” Kohli said referring to Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav as per quotes on Cricket.com.au. “We have actually been able to create flat wickets into wicket-taking wickets with the variety we have in the attack.”

Generally, wrist spinners can generate spin even on the flat track, which will be an added advantage for the visitors when they tour England. The spin duo Chahal and Kuldeep shared a total of 33 wickets between them in their recent ODI series victory of 5-1 against South Africa in South Africa, “If the pitch is flat then you have no way out unless you have wrist spinners who do the job in the middle overs. Not every side has that cushion so they find it difficult.”

A bad tour in 2014

Virat Kohli had scored only 134 runs in the 10 innings he played in his previous England tour in 2014. However, he is confident of his form as they will have a good advantage of playing limited-overs series ahead of the Test series – which will give them a good read to the conditions out there. India is also ready to fight fire with fire as James Anderson and Stuart Broad pose a huge threat to the team.

“The swinging ball has the tendency to trouble the best of batsmen. But then that helps our fast bowlers as well,” the 29-year-old said. “By the time the Test series arrives, we won’t feel like we are playing an away series,” Kohli further added.
