Tymal Mills, the England fast bowler, has tried to put forth the difference between playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Pakistan Super League (PSL). The speedster made his debut in both the tournaments in 2017 itself. Even as his IPL career came to a halt in the same year, the Yorkshire-born has made some mark in the PSL, playing three seasons thus far.

Even as he hailed the IPL as the ‘biggest league’ worldwide, he was in awe of the crowd capacity during the PSL. Mills also reckoned that being an overseas pacer is a challenging task in the PSL as Pakistan have loads of talented fast bowlers in their ranks.

The IPL is the highest standard: Tymal Mills

“The IPL is the biggest league in the world. Nobody can ever deny it. I have seen that and experienced it on and off the field. The PSL, I have played for 4 years. Last year, I played a whole edition which was held in Pakistan, the crowds were brilliant,” Mills told Times Now.

“The stadiums are the same sizes as India, they are largely sold out and there is a real passion. On the field, the PSL is tough as an overseas fast bowler because there are so many quick bowlers in Pakistan, the balance of teams is different,” he stated.

“The IPL is the highest standard. All countries are available. The money is obviously there. The environment breeds success. Only the best survive. If you don’t perform, you get moved on and someone else comes in. That’s the environment of the IPL and that’s why it is the number-one T20 league in the world,” Mills added.

In the IPL, Mills played five matches for Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and picked up as many wickets. He was sold to RCB at a whopping price of INR 12 crores. In the PSL, the southpaw has played for Karachi Kings, Peshawar Zalmi, and Quetta Gladiators.

In 22 matches, he has managed to pick up 28 wickets at a reasonable economy rate of 7.79. Overall in T20 cricket, Mills has gotten 131 wickets from 123 matches. The seamer also has had his fair share of injuries in his career. Moreover, he has played 32 first-class and 23 List A matches.
