The England and Wales Cricket Board yesterday confirmed that they have signed a deal with American brand New Balance to be their kit sponsor. New Balance would be replacing German brand Adidas, which has seemed to scale down its interest in Cricket.

Adidas has been the ECB’s cricket supplier since 2008, but these days they seem to have changed their focus from cricket to football, they are investing more in football, including a 750 million pounds shirt deal with Manchester United.

England Cricket Team would reportedly revert to their traditional cream color test match kit, a decision which would make purists happy who were unhappy when previous sponsors Adidas decided to adopt an all white strip.

The new deal between England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and new Balance was confirmed on Wednesday. Not only that, ECB are expected to receive 2 million pounds a year from New Balance, doubling the 1 million pounds a year they were getting from Adidas in the previous shirt deal.

The five-year deal would mean that New Balance would provide kits to all England teams including the men’s and women’s team in al the formats as well as the England Lions squad and junior teams.

“This relationship will form part of our broader strategy to grow the game at every level. It’s a great opportunity for us to work closely with a leading global brand, delivering promotional campaigns which will help cricket reach out to new audiences and achieve even greater exposure as a sport while connecting with fans across the country.”
ECB’s commercial director, Sanjay Patel as quoted by the Drum News

England will use this new clothing from the coming home season starting with wearing the colorized version of the new kit when England face Ireland on May 5 in the first match of the two-match ODI-series

It would worth seeing if the new kit brings good luck to the team.
