Team India announced their arrival in England in a dominating fashion. They thumped the English side by 8 wickets in the first T20I of their tour of England this season. With a lead of 1-0 to their account, they headed to Cardiff for the second game of the three-match series. The visitors were the more fancied side in the competition as the two sides locked horns on the match day.

Much to the relief of the hosts, they managed to scrape through with a win to set up a perfect decider clash for the series. England beat India by 5 wickets in the game to level the series 1-1. Coming to the game, the hosts won the toss and opted to field first. Unlike the previous game, team India failed to get an anchor in the innings. Virat Kohli top scored for the side with 47 to his name.

Towards the end of the Indian innings, MS Dhoni chipped in with an unbeaten 32 to take the Indian total to 148/5 in 20 overs. In the run chase, the English batters missed the trick as well with Umesh Yadav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowling tight lines up front. However, a steady head in Alex Hales ensured that his side was over the line on the day with 5 wickets in hand. Hales scored an unbeaten 48 as England won the game by 5 wickets.

Here are the England Player Ratings for the match:

Alex Hales – 9/10

Chasing small targets is always very tricky. The case was no different on the day as well. England could have easily lost the plot against the wily Indian bowlers. But Alex Hales ensured that he held the fort from one end to take the side over the line. Hales remained unbeaten on 58 off 41 deliveries with four boundaries and three sixes to his name.

Eoin Morgan – 2/10

English skipper Eoin Morgan failed to leave an imprint on the game with the bat. He came in to bat at a tricky situation. He was expected to play the second fiddle to Alex Hales in the run chase. He took his time to score his 17 runs but ended up giving his wicket way at a wrong juncture.

Jonny Bairstow – 6/10

Jonny Bairstow has been one of the most consistent batters in the English lineup in the recent times.
