The England team has been completely dismantled and defeated in the Test series by the Indian team. Virat Kohli & Co. have won the five Test series 3-0 with a game in hand and after their team failed to put up any inspirational performance on Indian soil the British media seems to be looking out for ways to spark something out of the series.

At first, the Indian skipper was accused of ball tampering which was absolutely baseless and now the same English Daily has reported that off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin used foul language against England pacer James Anderson.

The incident in question was an altercation between the Indian ace spinner and Anderson who had on the previous evening questioned Virat Kohli’s technique and said it was the because of the wickets that his faults were covered.

“I am not sure if Virat Kohli has changed. I just think any technical deficiencies he has got are not in play out here. The wickets just take that out of the equation. There is not that pace in the wicket to get the nicks like we did against him in England – with a bit more movement,” Anderson had said after the third day’s play.

This certainly didn’t go down with Ashwin and while Virat was not aware of the entire scene, the offie decided to give Anderson a piece of his mind while he walked out to bat on the last day morning. After the match when the Indian skipper was asked about the altercation he said, “Ashwin told him that it was very disappointing that you used such words. If we played better you should accept it. Maybe Anderson felt guilty about it and he asked me later if we can have a word about what happened. But I said there’s no need for it because whatever is there is on the scorecard. I don’t want to debate how much I scored and how I scored them. I didn’t want to say that they played badly. I told Ash also the same thing that we are going to win — jo bol diya bol diya ab chhod do. Let him feel what he did wasn’t right and it was evident that he, Anderson, was guilty,” Kohli explained.

He agreed that he has been someone who likes to give it back to the opposition but this time he was in the role of the peace-maker. “For the first time I was trying to calm things down in the middle at a time when James Anderson is involved. Ashwin wasn’t pleased with what he said in the press, and I didn’t even know about it. he told me on the ground. So I didn’t know what to make of it, I was laughing about it, Ashwin wasn’t too impressed and he let him know, not using any bad words honestly, I think he told me he was pretty disappointed with what he said and it is important to accept defeat as it is. Things like that. Just general, you know how Ashwin is, he is to the point can really strike you well and he doesn’t need to say bad words. Later on I told James these things happen and let’s move on,” he said.

A leading tabloid from England carried the story with the following quote: “Certainly, Anderson saying Kohli’s batting had not changed since the last time they met did not seem to merit an outburst from Ashwin which appeared to end with him calling England’s record wicket-taker a ‘f****** bad loser.’”

“That outburst should lead to disciplinary action for Ashwin but that will depend on whether the International Cricket Council are prepared to stand up to India or turn a blind eye.”

What is interesting here is Ravi Ashwin is one of the calmest and controlled individuals in the game around and just likes to answer with his game while at the same time James Anderson has had a history of spats and on-field altercations. If Alastair Cook believes Anderson’s comments were blown out of proportion this entire scene is certainly created to elevate the matter that ended right at the moment it sparked.
