35-year-old Imran Nazir was once the poster boy of Pakistan cricket. Since making his debut in the year 1999, Nazir played 79 ODIs, 25 T20Is and eight Test matches. The right-hand batsman scored more than 2500 runs in international cricket but was always in and out of the Pakistan team due to injuries. The Punjab-born cricketer last turned out for the green brigade in the year 2012 against Sri Lanka.

He was sidelined due to injuries and fitness relates issues but the cricketer is training these days in a bid to make his return to international cricket. He participated in the side matches in UAE and also played in the Bahrain Cricket Festival match alongside Misbah ul Haq and Shahid Afridi.

Nazir on a comeback mission

Nazir has recently said that he is trying to get fit in order to represent Pakistan once again. “I have started my training, and am trying to regain my fitness,” said Nazir, quoted the local media. “I have two to three months, till that time, I am hopeful I will gain complete fitness,” he added.

Nazir thanked his followers, who enjoyed watching him hit the big ones.“I am thankful towards all my fans, for their support and prayers, which have allowed me to restart my career,” added Nazir.

Nazir was a part of the Pakistan squad for the 2007 World Cup. But he failed to grab the opportunity with both hands with a string of poor scores but a 160 in the ’emotional’ tie against Zimbabwe in the 2007 World Cup saw him book his spot for the next few games. He was also a part of the World T20I which was staged in South Africa but apart from a few impressive shots, Nazir could not stamp his authority. With the Pakistan unit looking strong in terms of batting, it will be a challenge for Nazir to make his way and cement a spot which looked very familiar to him.
