It would not be entirely wrong to state that Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman has not really lived up to the expectations so far. The southpaw started his career in a blistering manner, helping Pakistan win their first-ever Champions Trophy. He scored a century in the final of the tournament as Pakistan crushed arch-rivals India.

After that, he had a highly successful tour of Zimbabwe where he became the first-ever Pakistani batsman to score an ODI double century. But since then, the left-handed batsman has struggled for consistency. He has shown flashes of brilliance but has not really turned out to be the player everyone expected after his early heroics.

He recently had a mixed home series against Sri Lanka. While he did well in ODIs, he failed miserably in the succeeding T20Is. He scored 54 and 76 in the two ODIs as Pakistan won the 50-over contests. But in the following T20Is, he scored only 6 and 0 as Sri Lanka stunned the world number one side by whitewashing them in the three-match series.

Fakhar Zaman lashes out at senior journalist

Fakhar Zaman, nonetheless, recently slammed a senior reporter after the latter’s comment on him. While talking on a news channel, the reporter stopped short of calling Fakhar Zaman arrogant as he revealed an incident when the batsman refused to recognize him at the Dubai Airport. The reporter also criticized the opener’s recent performances, saying that the player would have lost his place had there been a captain like Imran Khan.

Not very surprisingly, Fakhar Zaman was not at all impressed with the journalist’s comment and vented his frustration on the man. The Pakistan star took to Twitter to slam the journalist and also insisted that he was lying.

“Sorry for sharing this shit. Koi inko batae performance ma ups and downs atay ha ma manta hu Fakhar Zaman buht bekar player ha/hoga (Someone tell him, ups and downs are parts and parcel of the game. I admit that Fakhar Zaman was or is a poor player),” wrote the batsman.

To this, Fakhar responded, “Lekin jhootay pe Allah ki lanat hai (but shame on the lie).” He then went on to tag the journalist and asked him to respect the players. He also tagged his teammate, Shadab Khan, “See Shadab you were also there”. However, it did not take long for Fakhar to delete his tweet as he must have realized the choice of his words was not appropriate.
