Sanjay Manjrekar took to commentary after hanging his boots from cricket. The former Indian cricketer has significant experience in the field and has worked in a number of prestigious tournaments across the globe. However, over the time period, he has been a recipient of flak and brickbats from the fans, who have questioned his credentials for showing bias while being on air.

Recently, he entered into an altercation with Ravindra Jadeja, the Indian all-rounder, who plied his trade in the 2019 edition of the World Cup. Manjrekar called the 30-year-old a ‘bits and pieces’ player and said that he didn’t like Jadeja. Moreover, he called the Saurashtra cricketer a proper bowler in Test cricket and reckoned that the southpaw didn’t fit the bill for ODIs by any means.

The harsh words didn’t please Jadeja and he lashed out at Manjrekar on Twitter. Jadeja compared the commentator’s words to ‘verbal diarrhoea’. Jadeja asked him to be a little respectful towards those, who have achieved something in their lives. Even the supporters stood beside Jadeja and bashed Manjrekar left, right and centre for his stern comments on the Saurashtra-born player.

Jadeja ripped me in bits and pieces, says Manjrekar

Jadeja had an appropriate answer in store and he pulled off a stupendous knock of 77 against New Zealand in the semi-final of the World Cup. At the Old Trafford in Manchester, he almost helped India to victory after the Men in Blue lost six wickets before reaching 100. Jadeja also picked up the wicket of Henry Nicholls after the batsman put forth a 50 plus stand with Kane Williamson.

Thereafter, the left-hander was showered with praises for his valiant efforts. After India bowed out of the mega event, Manjrekar admitted that Jadeja ripped him apart in bits and pieces from every count. Previously Manjrekar was also slammed by celebrities, which included actor Siddharth, who asked not to ‘babysit an idiot, and referred to his commentary as ‘crass’ and ‘partisan’.

Meanwhile, amidst the criticism, Manjrekar has reasons to cheer as he turned 54 on July 12. Unfortunately, even on his birthday, he couldn’t evade the wrath of the netizens. While the fans wished him on the auspicious occasion, they also asked him to stop doing commentary.

Here is how Twitter opined on Manjrekar:
