In 2016, Virat Kohli was batting on another level. Irrespective of any format, Kohli was on top of his game and was constantly getting big scores. In fact, 2016 was his best year as far as T20s are concerned. Be it international or the IPL, Kohli piled on the runs like never before.

Before the 2016 season, there was a lot of talk about how Kohli doesn’t have a single IPL hundred. However, when he scored his first IPL ton in 2016, the RCB skipper scored as many as three more double tons in the same season. He just kept getting better and better in that season.

Kohli scored a staggering 973 runs in that season and averaged 81.08. He scored four tons in a single season and was batting like a dream. He could well bat anywhere and anyhow. The first person to achieve this feat of scoring multiple tons in a single season was Chris Gayle but as far as the Indians are concerned, Kohli became the first to do it.
