The partnership between Anil Kumble and Virat Kohli promised so much but soon turned into a tussle which led to Kumble quitting his position. What has happened is past and what has to be done is something BCCI has to look forward to. There are some names in contention to take the coveted job out of which Ravi Shastri, Virender Sehwag and Tom Moody currently stand as the favourites.

Team India’s World Cup winning coach Gary Kirsten was also approached by the BCCI but he denied taking up the role due to his personal commitments. However, in this crucial period, the former Indian coach has sent his best wishes the Indian side. He mentioned in his tweet that it was always a pressure to work with the Indian cricket team and hopefully they find a good coach to lead their side.

“Always loved working with Team India and hopefully they find the coach most suited for their team.,” read Kirsten’s tweet. Kirsten is one of the most respected figures in Indian cricket and to listen to these words from the legendary cricketer and coach would really be heart warming for the Indian fans.

One of the best Indian coaches of all time

If ever a person makes a list of the best Indian coaches of all time, South African legend Gary Kirsten would be the top draw. The former Proteas opener led India to an unforgettable World Cup triumph in 2011 and it was during his tenure when the Indian team attained the number one ranking in Test matches for the first time in their history.

Apart from the World Cup triumph, the team also registered their first Test series victory in New Zealand in 40 years and remained unbeaten in 11 consecutive Test series under Kirsten. He was often praised by all the players for enhancing their playing techniques, motivating them and discussing tactics that could be deployed on the field.
