Harsha Bhogle lashes out at Shobaa De over Olympics tweet

Lovingly dubbed as the ‘Voice of Indian Cricket’, Harsha Bhogle may not be in the commentary box, the place he wants to be at the moment. However, with his social media accounts as active as ever, Bhogle seems to be killing it with fans from all over the globe flock to his Facebook or Twitter accounts to get their daily dose of ‘Harsha Unplugged’.

With most of the eyeballs within the country focused on the Indian athletes taking part in the Rio Olympic Games, most are certainly disappointed with the country’s inability to win a medal just yet. However, one particular Tweet from author cum socialite Shobhaa De has not gone down too well with many a people following the games in Brazil at the moment.

While many have come out in defense of the athletes in Rio, Sachin Tendulkar and Harsha Bhogle were the more prominent folks who decided it be best to take a dig at the now infamous socialite for her comments on the Indian Olympic contingent. De was also on the receiving end of prominent figures and former Olympians in the form of Abhinav Bindra and Viren Rasquinha.

Harsha Bhogle however, took the high road in this particular case when he did not mention a name. However, his comment seemed to be enough for most of his fans to pick the clue as the tweet being directed straight at Shobaa De. Harsha’s tweet read: “I don’t understand why sports lovers are wasting so much time outraging over comments of people who don’t matter.”

However, in what was expected to be a retraction from her previous Tweet, Shobaa De seemed to offer an analyst’s view on why the Indian contingent was not able to win medals at the Olympics just yet.

Official apathy main reason why we fare so poorly during every Olympics, not just Rio. Difficult for athletes to 'compete' with this hurdle.
