Harsha Bhogle, the renowned cricket journalist, shared his ODI team of the decade from the players, who have performed exceptionally from the year 2011 to 2020. Rohit Sharma and David Warner were his openers. Both opening batters have been outstanding over the last 10 years or so. Rohit notched as many as three double centuries with a top score of 264 against Sri Lanka.

Rohit also got five tons in the 2019 World Cup. In the middle-order, Bhogle went for Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. Virat has been a run-machine and he has tasted success equally in all three formats of the game. ABD, on the other hand, retired back in 2018, yet the netizens reckon that he has enough potential to make an international comeback and weave his magic at the highest level.

Bhogle made his picks while speaking on Cricbuzz. As his genuine all-rounders, Harsha zeroed in on Ben Stokes and Shakib Al Hasan. Stokes was a vital cog in England’s 2019 World Cup-winning squad and he also played a knock of substance in the final against New Zealand. As far as Shakib is concerned, he has arguably been Bangladesh’s greatest cricketer in the last two decades.

Shakib tried whole-heartedly in the 2019 WC, but couldn’t take his team to the semis. The Magura-born recently made his comeback to competitive cricket in the 2020 Bangabandhu T20 Cup where he played for the Gemcon Khulna.

As the wicketkeeper, it didn’t spring a surprise that Bhogle picked MS Dhoni, who hung his boots from international cricket back in the month of August. In this decade, Dhoni helped India win the 2011 World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy.

As his fast-bowling trio, Harsha went for New Zealand’s Trent Boult, Sri Lanka’s Lasith Malinga and Australia’s Mitchell Starc. As the sole specialist spinner, he picked Rashid Khan, who has been a revelation at a young age and is one of the hottest picks.

Here’s the ODI XI –

Rohit Sharma, David Warner, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Ben Stokes, MS Dhoni, Shakib Al Hasan, Rashid Khan, Mitchell Starc, Lasith Malinga, Trent Boult
