Team India has played some quality cricket in the ongoing five-ma Test series against England. As a result, they are 1-0 up after the first two games. While the opening clash at the Trent Bridge resulted in a draw, the following encounter saw Virat Kohli’s men registering a sensational 151-run triumph at the iconic Lord’s cricket stadium. England hasn’t really been an easy place to travel for Test teams.

However, Team India embraced the challenge brilliantly and dominated the Three Lions at the latter’s den. Indian skipper Virat Kohli is also pleased with his side’s performance and he expressed the same while addressing media ahead of the third Test. The talismanic batter wasn’t amused on being asked about whether injuries in the England camp give India a better chance of thriving.

We don’t wait for the opposition to be weak: Virat Kohli

In response, Kohli said his side has played a brilliant brand of cricket lately. Hence, overshadowing their success by some other factors won’t be fair. He even asserted that the question isn’t valid for Team India.  “Does that depend on the strength of the opposition? Even when the key players are playing, we think we can beat anyone. We don’t wait for the opposition to be weak,” Kohli said in the post-match press conference.

“I don’t think that’s the right question to ask a team that has been playing such good cricket for the last so many years, that we depend on the team to be weak to have an opportunity to win a series. That’s not how we play and approach a series,” he added.

Meanwhile, the third Test gets underway on Wednesday (August 25) at the Headingly in Leeds. With Team India being 1-0 up, a win in the upcoming contest would give the visitors an unassailable 2-0 lead. Hence, stakes are incredibly high in the third game and both teams must leave no stones unturned to emerge victoriously.

Not to forgot, the ongoing series also marked the start of the second World Test Championship cycle. Runners-up of the previous edition, Team India has certainly made an impressive start to their campaign. On the other hand, Joe Root’s men has some work to do to change their fortunes.
