Mohammad Amir, the former Pakistan bowler, is looking forward to making an impression for Gloucestershire in the three County Championship matches that he is all set to play. For the games against Surrey, Hampshire, and Somerset, the 30-year-old will be available for selection.

He was brought in as a replacement for Naseem Shah, who is out with a shoulder injury and won’t be available until the T20 Blast this season, and Amir will be making his return to the red-ball format after a period of three years.

“I am feeling really good and excited for tomorrow as I have always enjoyed playing County cricket and looking forward to the challenge. As everybody knows I am playing red-ball cricket after three years so I’m looking forward and I am excited. I will try my best to do well for my team Gloucestershire,” he was quoted by Cricket Pakistan.

I want to finish three games on a high note: Mohammad Amir

Amir has always believed that County Championship has created a huge impact in the game, and said that he did not regret the decision to join the Gloucestershire after he saw them playing against the Lancashire.

“When I arrived and sat in the dressing room with the boys after they turned the game while playing against the Lancashire and I thought to myself, I’m on the good side here. I always like playing with youngsters and hopefully, I will chip in and will definitely try to impart my experience to them,” he added

Amir hasn’t played red-ball cricket since announcing his retirement from the format in July 2019, claiming his body’s inability to cope with the rigours of the longest format, but he believes he is in good health and wants to return.

“I didn’t play much cricket after retiring from international cricket and my body got a break and not to mention my mindset changed. I worked on my fitness and now I feel a lot better. My body is allowing me to test my skills again in Test cricket. I will be playing only three games but will give my 200 percent for the team. I want to finish three games on a high note and want to leave my impact here,” Amir concluded.
