Thailand Women are set for their maiden game in a major World event as they face West Indies Women in the 2nd match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020. The W.A.C.A ground in Perth will be hosting Thailand’s maiden World Cup match. West Indies are boosted by the return of Deandra Dottin as they look for the glory yet again. The 2016 Women’s T20 champions were knocked out in the semi-final of the previous edition by the Australians. On the other hand, Thailand Women will be hoping to put on some inspired performances. They are yet to play against big teams and this tournament will provide them with that challenge.
The WACA ground is likely to be under clouds on Saturday with a little chance of drizzle in the afternoon.
The W.A.C.A ground in Perth was touch high-scoring one during the recent WBBL edition where the average score read close to 150. The chasing teams did struggle to get going on hard surfaces at the venue. West Indies is likely to come up with a big total if they are batting first while Thailand is expected to struggle.
Average first innings score: 147 (Unaffected WBBL matches in 2019/20)
Record of chasing teams: Won – 2, Lost – 4

Hayley Matthews is likely to be the top performer if West Indies assigns her best role of bowling four overs and batting at the top. She has been in good form for the national team after serving a ban during the home season. Nattaya Boochatham will hold the key in stopping West Indies from scoring big. She is the leading wicket-taker in the T20I format for Thailand Women with 48 wickets only across 35 games. She also scored 361 runs with help of a fifty across 29 innings in T20Is.
Another key name in Thailand team is Chanida Sutthiruang who has taken 42 wickets in 35 T20Is and also scored 271 runs in 26 innings. She did score 30+ and took two wickets in the warm-up match against New Zealand. Anisa Mohammed has an impressive record with the ball in T20Is but of late, the top teams are playing her better. As a result, she has gone wicketless in six of her last 8 T20Is. However, against Thailand, Anisa could take a load of wickets.

If the West Indies management decides to promote Hayley Matthews and Deandra Dottin to top three, the duo can be picked up as captain and vice-captain. Matthews is likely to bowl her full 4 overs quota while Dottin might be given 2-3 overs every game.
West Indies Women are expected to defeat Thailand Women by a big margin.
