Defending champions Australia will start their World Cup title defence against Afghanistan in the fourth match of the ongoing edition at County Ground in Bristol. It would not be entirely wrong to say that the clash can be termed as the David vs Goliath one. Australia, the most decorated team in the history of the World Cup, are up against Afghanistan, the least experienced team in this World Cup.

The big gulf of experience between the two teams, however, should not take the shine off the game which has the potential of becoming a classic. While Australia has regained their form in recent times, one cannot say that they are nearly invincible like they were a few years ago. On the other hand, Afghanistan is more than capable of beating any team on a given day. Last year, Afghanistan had tied a game against India in the Asia Cup and recently beat Pakistan in their first warm-up game.

But at the same time, one cannot take the favourites tag away from Australia. The five-time World Cup winners are riding high on confidence after winning their last 8 ODIs in addition to beating England and Sri Lanka in their warm-up games. The Aaron Finch-led side also beat New Zealand and West Indies in practice games and will be looking to start their World Cup on a winning note.

Afghanistan, on the other hand, suffered a crushing 9-wicket loss at the hands of England in their last warm-up game and will be desperate to bounce back. The newcomers will take confidence from their performance against Afghanistan in their first warm-up game.

How’s the weather expected to be:

A bright and sunny day will welcome both the teams on Saturday. There are no reasons for concerns as AccuWeather has predicted zero per cent chances of rainfall. As far as the temperature is concerned, it will be around 22 degree Celsius at the start of the game. The temperature will be hovering in the early 20s throughout the match time. The cloud cover will be around 70 per cent while the humidity will be in the early 50s at start and will gradually increase to around 70 per cent towards the end of the match.
