Despite three straight wins in the last three matches, Pakistan have got the least chance of finishing in the top four. The equation is such that – they need to beat Bangladesh in their last league game and at the same time hope that New Zealand gets the better of England at Chester-le-Street.

If the result of England game goes the other way, they have to hope that England registers a really big win. Pakistan’s NRR at the moment reads -0.792 while New Zealand’s is +0.572. India also have a chance of finishing with 11 points like Pakistan and New Zealand but their NRR at +0.854 is higher than them both.

NRR scenarios for Pakistan:

To get past New ZealandEngland beat New Zealand by as many as 215 runs

Pakistan beat Bangladesh by a similar margin to edge past NZ’s NRR

To get past India – To go past India’s NRR, Pakistan has to hope India lose their matches against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka by 150+ runs each.

At the same time, Pakistan need to beat Bangladesh by at least 200 runs.
