England speedster is targeting to make a comeback from injury in the upcoming T20 Blast for Sussex. He last played for England against India during the T20I series in Ahmedabad in March 2021. However, he was in action till July that year before the pacer got injured and was ruled out due to an elbow injury. He underwent two elbow surgeries and then rehabilitation before now considering returning to the field for Sussex’s T20 Blast game against Glamorgan on May 26.

Meanwhile, a lot of questions were raised about Jofra Archer’s overall fitness during this period. Some even labeled him as a one-format player, as they felt the fast bowler might get injured again if he plays in all the formats for England. However, Archer has cleared that no one from the ECB setup has contacted him about playing only one format as of now. He is currently looking forward to playing in the T20 Blast only and will then decide on participating in the home summer when England is scheduled to play a total of seven Test matches.

“As for Test cricket this summer, I simply haven’t thought that far ahead. I’ve not had any prompts from anyone, telling me I’m a one-format player as yet. I still want to play everything, but my first task is the Blast and if I don’t play that properly, then I won’t be able to play Test cricket. So the focus needs to be on the cricket I’ve got lined up and we will see from there,” Archer wrote in his column for Daily Mail.

Jofra Archer is aware that T20 World Cup is to be played this year

T20 World Cup is set to be played later this year in Australia. Jofra Archer missed out on the previous edition that took place in UAE due to injury and just wants to get out on the park to prove his fitness. “I am not setting ambitious targets just yet. All I want is to stay on the park for a full year without any more setbacks. I am aware there is a Twenty20 World Cup this coming autumn but I just want to be out there, having a good run,” he further added.
