Team India skipper Virat Kohli continued his dream form in the one-off Test match against Bangladesh at Hyderabad by scoring his 4th double century in Test cricket with all of them coming in less than a year. Kohli batted like a dream on the 2nd day and got out soon after completing his double ton. Wriddhiman Saha scored his 2nd Test century later, bringing up the milestone with a six.

Fifties from Ajinkya Rahane and Ravindra Jadeja helped India post a mammoth 687/6 before they declared and reduced the visitors for 41/1 at end of day 2. Here we look at all the milestones and stats recorded during the day’s play.

0 – Number of Indian wicketkeepers who managed to score a century at home and away in Test cricket before Saha. He scored a century in Antigua last year.

1 – India became the first team in history to score 600+ in three successive innings.

1 – Virat Kohli became the first player ever to score a double century in 4 consecutive Test series. Don Bradman and Rahul Dravid managed to do in 3 successive series in past.

3 – Number of double centuries Virat Kohli has scored in 2016/17 season in Tests. He became the 3rd player after Don Bradman (1930) and Rahul Dravid (2003/04) to score three double tons in a season. He is the first captain to score 3 Test double tons in a single season.

3 – Number of double century stands in Test cricket between Kohli and Rahane, all have come for the 4th wicket. Only Sachin-Ganguly pair managed 3 double ton stands for the 4th wicket in Tests.

4 – Number of double centuries Kohli has scored in Test cricket as captain, the joint 2nd most for any captain. Brian Lara has 5 double tons as captain. Michael Clarke, Don Bradman and Graeme Smith too had 4 double tons as captain.

– Number of Bangladesh bowlers conceded more than 100 in India’s first innings. This was the 7th instance where 5 bowlers conceded 100 runs in same Test innings, first for Bangladesh and first against India.

15 – Wriddhiman Saha became the 15th Indian to bring up his century with a six in Test cricket. This was the 22nd instance of an Indian completing his century with a six in Tests.

80 – Five Indian batsmen scoring 80+ in the first innings was the 9th such instance in Test cricket and first for India. In fact, this is only the 4th instance where 5 out of top 6 scored 80+ in the same innings.

204 – Virat Kohli’s 204 is the 2nd highest individual score by a captain against Bangladesh in Tests. Highest is 232 by Stephen Fleming in 2008.

687/6 – India’s total of 687/6 is the 2nd highest total for any team against Bangladesh. Highest is 730/6 by Sri Lanka in 2014. This is also India’s 5th highest total in Tests.

687 – India’s total of 687 is the 3rd highest team total without conceding a bye. Highest is 726/9 by Sri Lanka when India scored it at Mumbai in 2009.

1168 – Runs scored by Virat Kohli in 2016/17 season at home in Test cricket, the most runs by any player in a home season. Previous highest is 1105 by Virender Sehwag in 2004/05.
