The visiting Indian team led by Virat Kohli would be eyeing to end this challenging and competitive South African tour on a winning note. Both the teams will be facing later in the day for the final T20 match of the three-match series, which will be a deciding encounter as the scoreline is leveled 1-1. Many great historical records will be in the making when both the teams will be taking the field. This will be India’s first ever T20 international game against South Africa in Cape Town and they will surely hope to claim the series at the maiden venue.
MS Dhoni nearing another landmark
Former Indian captain and current regular wicket-keeper in limited overs cricket, MS Dhoni is very close to reaching another landmark moment in his international Twenty20 career. Presently, he has scalped 49 catches in his T20I career and just needs one more to complete a half-century of catches in the shortest format of the game. Recently, in the first T20I against the Proteas, the wicket-keeper claimed his 134 scalps in the Twenty20 format; the most by any player, going past the tally of former Sri Lankan cricketer Kumar Sangakkara, who took 133 catches behind the stumps in this shorter format of the game.
The other people in the leading caught behind tallies in T20I cricket are some miles behind the Indian keeper presently. Windies keeper Denesh Ramdin is second on the table with 32 catches to his name. While the Proteas opener Quinton de Kock who is currently out of the India T20 series due to injury is one the third spot with 30 catches in the shortest format.
Not far behind in the stumpings tally
Dhoni has achieved a lot in his incredible and fabulous international career so far both behind the stumps and in front of the stumps. The gloveman is also not quite far away from claiming the top spot in the category of highest stumpings in T20 cricket. Currently, Pakistani wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal with 32 stumpings is first on the list, while MS has 29 stumpings to his name so far.
The 36-year old would be eyeing to achieve all the above-mentioned milestones when he would be taking the field in the third T20I against the Proteas and at the same time will be hoping to show the same firepower with his bat, as in the previous match, in which he played an explosive unbeaten knock of 52 runs off just 28 balls.
