The eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will begin on April 7 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai where the defending champions, Mumbai Indians (MI) will take on two-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who has made a comeback this year after remaining suspended for two years.

The IPL is not just a popular annual cricket carnival held in India every summer but it is also a reserve of a great many records, created both with the bat and ball as well by fielders. Here, we look at the top records that were registered in the tournament since 2008 when the first edition was played. The tournament completes a decade this year and it is a good opportunity to compile those eye-catching records.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) led by legendary Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne won the inaugural title by defeating Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s CSK by 3 wickets in the final. Royals did not have a great start in the tournament but eventually, they topped the points table and won the trophy. RR’s Swapnil Asnodkar became a household name in this tournament because of his batting form in the competition. This tournament saw mostly the foreigners picking the top honours – team-wise as well as in individual capacity.
