It was a mouth-watering clash which would decide the playoffs and the top four of the tournament, and it certainly did not disappoint the crowd. The Sunrisers took on the Rising Pune Supergiant in an attempt leapfrog them on the table. The visitors were sent in to bat after David Warner won the toss on a hot and humid day.

The Rising Pune Supergiant only could muster 148 runs in their 20 overs, with the batsmen finding it tough to find the middle of the bat. Meanwhile, on the same pitch, the likes of Ben Stokes, MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh found the middle of the bat. However, Yuvraj and David Warner could not muster the Sunrisers to a win, meaning which the Supergiant climbed to the second position of the table.

Here are the Rising Pune Supergiant Player Ratings for the SRH v RPS encounter:

1) Rahul Tripathi- 5/10

The ever-so consistent Rising Pune Supergiant opener was run-out for the third time in the tournament, a record which he would want to forget to go into the last leg of the tournament. Rahul Tripathi got out even before he could show us what he is capable of in the match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad scoring only one from the four balls that he faced.

2) Ajinkya Rahane- 6/10

Ajinkya Rahane did not have the match where he would have liked to time the ball off the middle of the bat. The two-paced pitch was providing enough assistance to the slower bowlers, and it certainly did not help the opener to get off to an aggressive start. The opener got out to the left-arm spinner Bipul Sharma for a 20 ball 22 runs.

3) Steven Smith- 7/10

Steve Smith, too, like all the other batsmen failed to get the ball in the middle of the bat. He additionally struggled to get the ball to the boundary which made it difficult for the batsmen who followed the Australian down the order. The Australian would want to replicate his match-winning knock against the Mumbai Indians in his tournament in the fixtures to follow.

4) Ben Stokes- 8/10

The power-hitting left-arm Englishman was on a mission against the Sunrisers. He started the innings in some fashion striking the ball ever so cleanly from the middle of the bat. It was almost like the Englishman was on a different pitch altogether with his 39 runs, which came off just 25 balls with three massive sixes.

With the ball in his hand, the all-rounder picked up three crucial wickets which just took the game away from the home side every single spell with wickets of David Warner and Yuvraj Singh.

5) MS Dhoni- 7/10

MS Dhoni was the only batsman apart from the Englishman to exhibit power-hitting. The power-hitting warehouse was just fantastic throughout the innings with 31 runs from just 21 balls. The 21 ball innings was made up of two boundaries and two sixes. He was certainly the difference between 120 and 150 for the Supergiant.

6) Daniel Christian- 6/10

The all-rounder has certainly picked and cemented his position in the Supergiant’ squad with some mighty all-round performances. The Australian has been in the form of his life – both with the bat and the ball, scoring four runs in just two balls and bowled tight lines with a spell of 0-21 in three overs.

7) Manoj Tiwary- 6/10

The Bengal batsman did not have the best of times with the bat in his hand. Manoj Tiwary failed to capitalize on his start, giving away his wicket thanks to an error in calling between the wickets with the former Indian skipper MS Dhoni.

However, in the field too, the Bengal player failed to snap the opportunity that came his way in Imran Tahir’s over. It was a night that the batsman would want to forget.

8) Washington Sundar- 7/10

The offie, who came in as a replacement for the injured spinner Ravichandran Ashwin bowled a tight spell at the beginning of Hyderabad’s innings. His first two overs certainly applied brakes to the free-scoring duo of David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan in the powerplay. The bowler went for only 19 runs in his three overs despite the fact that he bowled in the powerplay.

9) Shardul Thakur- 6/10

The Mumbai pacer had a decent outing compared to the other bowlers in the game. Although, it was far away from the performances that the bowler has given during the IPL. The bowler gave only 12 runs from his two overs, where he looked menacing to the on-strike batsman Yuvraj Singh.

10) Jayadev Unadkat- 10/10

The performance from the left-arm seamer was by far one of the best performances we have seen in this edition of the IPL. Jayadev Unadkat picked up five wickets, conceding only 30 runs with one maiden. He had a hat-trick to his name as well. Unadkat’s control with the ball was just exceptional and astonishing. The way in which the seamer bowled and used the slower ball was by far the best by any bowler. Certainly the Man of the Match from the first encounter of the day.

11) Imran Tahir- 8/10

It would be disappointing to see only one celebration from the South African leggie in this match. The way in which the leggie operated was a one with experience at the top level, with his googlies and straighter ones. The leggie should and would have picked up another wicket had Manoj Tiwary timed his run better in the field. The leggie finished his quota of four overs with the figures of 1/24.
