The Match 6 of IPL 11 turned out to be a rain-curtailed one and Delhi Daredevils who ended up on the losing side will be probably feeling a bit hard done by in terms of the revised target they were set courtesy the Duckworth-Lewis method.

When the match got interrupted due to rain during Rajasthan’s innings, Delhi was well on their way of restricting the hosts around a score of 175 and that would have been a chase-able total on the flat Sawai Mansingh pitch if it was a full 20-over game in the second innings.

However, because of the persistent rain for a considerable period of time, a lot of overs were lost and it eventually had to be a very short chase of 6 overs and DD had to score 71 to win. While it was still their game as they had all 10 wickets in hand and they could have gone big right from ball one, the target still seemed a tad unfair.

Also, the Delhi skipper Gautam Gambhir made a big decision of demoting himself down the order and opening the batting with Glenn Maxwell who had just joined the team a couple of days back. While it was a fair enough move as the required run rate was over 11, Maxwell looked out of sorts initially and missed quite a few length balls which should have been deposited into the stands.

Delhi couldn’t get too many runs in the first couple of overs and that made things really difficult for them as they had very little time on hand. Maxwell, Morris, and Pant later connected a few, but Delhi fell short at the end, much to the disappointment of everyone supporting them, as it was a game which looked well and truly in their control for most parts.

Gambhir not opening the innings was the main talking point on Twitter as some of the fans didn’t agree with that move at all and slammed the left-hander. There were some funny memes on show trolling the 36-year old for “running away from his responsibilities”.
