Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) fell agonisingly short of the victory target by just 4 runs against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Monday. They were always ahead in the chase after the quick start provided by Parthiv Patel and the skipper Virat Kohli. But lost their way in the last 10 overs completely which has been the forte of Hyderabad bowlers this season. However, Mohammed Siraj who impressed with the ball in the first innings feels that they conceded extra runs which hurt them in the end.

RCB’s bowlers have raised their game in the last few matches but at the same time, their batting standards are dipped significantly which is troubling them now. The inclusion of Tim Southee in the team has worked wonders for them as his skills have rubbed on the shoulders of Siraj as well who has been bowling with sheer pace. Both shared 6 wickets last night and kept the Sunrisers down to 146 which looked like a good job at the halfway stage.

We will try and do better next time

Mohammed Siraj, in the post-match press conference, believed that the target was a little too much for their batsmen in the second innings given that the pitch got slower. He bowled nicely at the death and returned with the figures of 3/25 from his four overs.

“It was a crucial match for us but unfortunately we lost. We bowled really well today against Hyderabad. I only had one plan and it was to restrict them for the lowest possible total. But they scored 20 runs too many than we aimed to restrict them to. Losses are a part of the game and ups and downs happen during the IPL. We will try an do better next time,” he said.
