IPL 2018: Once tied 6-6; KKR now have 14-7 lead against Kings XI Punjab

The finalists of the 2014 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) – Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) will take on each other in the first game of Saturday, April 21, of IPL 11 at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Both these teams have six points at the moment with KKR having played a game extra but with a better run-rate. Dinesh Karthik’s boys thrashed Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets in an away game on Wednesday, April 18, while old horse Chris Gayle smashed his sixth IPL ton on Thursday, April 19, to power the Kings to a 15-run win over a strong Sunrisers Hyderabad side.

Their current forms make Saturday’s game all the more interesting and both teams will look towards a win to go to the top of the table and get closer to the playoffs.

Here is a look at the absorbing rivalry of the two K teams in IPL since 2008. They have played 21 times with KKR winning 14 matches as against the Kings’ 7. They were tied at 6-6 till the first game of the 2014 edition but then KKR went on to win eight games on the trot while KXIP won their last encounter in 2017.

2008:

Game 2: KXIP won by 6 wickets at St George’s Park, Port Elizabeth

2010:
