Ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 some teams are really struggling with injuries. While a couple of the Kolkata Knight Riders picks are currently recovering from injuries, Royal Challengers Bangalore joined them in concern. They bought a really good pace bowling attack in the IPL 2018 auction and one of the prominent names Nathan Coulter-Nile has succumbed to an injury.

The Australian pacer suffered “aggravation” of a previous stress fracture and has been out of action since November 2017. It was the same injury that forced him to miss the Ashes at home and he has failed to recover in time to even participate in the IPL. RCB requested the IPL Technical Committee to allow them to replace the player.

After getting an approval they have roped in New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson in place of Coulter-Nile. “The IPL Technical Committee has approved a replacement for Nathan Coulter-Nile – fast bowler from Australia – in the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad,” an IPL media advisory stated.

“Mr. Coulter-Nile has been ruled out of the VIVO IPL 2018 owing to an injury. In accordance with the Player Regulations, the Royal Challengers Bangalore were allowed to choose a replacement from the Registered and Available Player Pool (RAPP),” it further mentioned.

The Royal Challengers have signed Anderson who went unsold in the player’s auction held in January 2018 at his base price of Rs 2 crore.

Previous IPL exploits

The New Zealander has previously featured for the Delhi Daredevils and the Mumbai Indians. He has played 27 matches, scored 521 runs and picked 8 wickets in the tournament. But owing to poor form that also put him out of the national team he wasn’t picked by either of the eight franchises in the auction.

RCB squad for IPL 2018:

Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Sarfaraz Khan, Chris Woakes, Yuzvendra Singh Chahal, Umesh Yadav, Brendon McCullum, Washington Sundar, Navdeep Saini, Quinton de Kock, Mohammed Siraj, Corey Anderson, Colin De Grandhomme, M. Ashwin, Parthiv Patel, Moeen Ali, Mandeep Singh, Manan
