Veteran Indian cricketer Suresh Raina is having a decent run in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. Playing for the Chennai Super Kings, he has had some very good outings in the season thus far. Recently, Raina was heard showering praises on another southpaw, who reminds him of his younger self. He absolutely loves watching this young cricketer and feels he has a great future ahead for the Indian cricket.

This young superstar is none other than Rishabh Pant. Suresh Raina, as per the recent quotes in India Today, remarked that Rishabh Pant is his favorite batsman in the current day cricket. He noted that even Sachin Tendulkar feels that Pant is a blend of Yuvraj and Raina.

“He is doing so well. He is my favourite batsman right now. The way he plays, he reminds me of myself, of my early days. In fact, Sachin Paaji (Tendulkar) also said that he is a mix of Raina and Yuvi (Yuvraj Singh). Viru bhai (Sehwag) also praised him a lot. Such cricketers are god-gifted. I have seen many ups-and-downs in these 10 years but god-gifted players like him just need support,” Suresh Raina quoted.

On Pant’s Indian stint

Rishabh Pant has been on a record breaking spree this season. He is among the top contenders for the Orange Cap. Recently, he hit a whirlwind 128 in the tournament, which remains the highest individual score by an Indian cricketer in the history of the IPL. Pant will surely make it to the Indian team someday. Suresh Raina cited that in the limited opportunities Pant has had to play for India, he has fared up decently well. And hence, it will not be long before he gets a major run in the Indian outfit.

“I think that whatever opportunity he has got till now, he has done reasonably well for the Indian team. It is unfortunate that he missed out on a place in the Indian team for the Ireland and England tour. He seems to be one of those cricketers who will play for a long time for India,” Raina conceded.
