Sunrisers Hyderabad kept their hopes of a playoff spot alive with a huge win against the Delhi Capitals on Tuesday. Birthday boy David Warner came all guns blazing smashing ten boundaries during his 34-ball 66. Wriddhiman Saha opened in the absence of Jonny Bairstow but proved to be as effective as Warner. The keeper-batsman scored 87 runs from only 45 balls to help SRH finish on 219/2. Delhi Capitals got off to a poor start while Rashid Khan took three wickets conceding only seven runs as SRH bagged an 88-run win.

A big win for the Sunrisers:

88 – The 88-run win of Sunrisers Hyderabad is now their 2nd biggest win in the history of IPL in terms of runs. Their biggest is by 118 runs against Royal Challengers Bangalore while defending 231 last year.


A record total from SRH:

219/2 – The total of 219/2 by Sunrisers Hyderabad is now the highest team total at the Dubai International Stadium in Twenty20 cricket. The previous highest T20 total at the venue was 211/3 by Sri Lanka in 2013 against Pakistan.

219/2 – Sunrisers’ total of 219/2 during SRH vs DC is now their 2nd highest team total in the IPL. Their highest total is 231/2 against RCB which came in the 2019 season’s home match. This is also the 2nd highest IPL total for any team against Delhi Capitals behind the 222/5 by Chennai Super Kings in the 2012 season qualifier.


Warner’s birthday blitz:

66David Warner’s 66-run knock during SRH vs DC is now the highest individual score by any player on birthday in the IPL. Mike Hussey is the only other player to score an IPL fifty on birthday as the Australian made 54 for CSK against Kolkata Knight Riders on his 37th birthday in the 2012 IPL final.

6 – Warner now has reached a fifty as many as six times inside the first six overs in the IPL. No other player in the league history has got more than three fifties coming inside the powerplay overs (1-6).

13 – David Warner reached 50-run mark in the IPL in 25 or fewer balls on as many as 13 times. These are the most such 50+ scores for any player in IPL history going past AB de Villiers (12).

12/12 – Sunrisers Hyderabad now had put on 12 partnerships of 100+ runs in the IPL for the opening wicket. David Warner was one of the partners in all those 12 century opening stands. Overall, Warner has been a part in the 19 of the 21 century partnerships recorded for the Sunrisers in the IPL.


A big knock from Saha:

87 – The 87-run knock during SRH vs DC by Wriddhiman Saha is now the 2nd highest in the IPL by an Indian for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Shikhar Dhawan scored an unbeaten 92 in the 2018 edition against Delhi Daredevils.


Rashid’s misery with the ball:

7 – The seven runs conceded by Rashid Khan are the fewest conceded by any player in his four overs in an IPL game for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Karn Sharma (0/8 vs CSK) and Amit Mishra (2/8 vs RR) conceded only 8 runs during a match in the 2013 edition. In overall, only three bowlers conceded fewer than seven runs in an IPL game after bowling their full quota of four overs.

3/7 – Rashid’s bowling figures of 3/7 in SRH vs DC are now his best in the IPL and is also the cheapest 3-wicket haul in the history of IPL among the players who bowled four overs. Dale Steyn (3/8 for Deccan Chargers vs RCB in 2012), Dwayne Smith (4/8 for Gujarat Lions vs KKR in 2016) and Mohammed Siraj (3/8 for RCB vs KKR in 2020) are the bowlers who took a 3-fer in the IPL conceded only eight runs in their four overs.

5 – Rashid Khan now has conceded as few as 12 runs in his four overs in an IPL match on five instances; the most for any player in the league history surpassing Dale Steyn (4).


End of Rabada’s streak:

25 – Kagiso Rabada went wicketless in SRH vs DC which brought an end to his streak of picking up at least one wicket in 25 consecutive IPL matches came to an end. No player before Rabada went even 20 consecutive IPL games picking up a wicket.

The last instance of Rabada being wicketless in an IPL game was way back in 2017 also against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Rabada conceded 59 runs in that game; the most he ever conceded in a match during his IPL career.
