The first half of the Indian Premier league unfolded some really intriguing contests. Unfortunately, the tournament had to be called off as Covid cases were found in few camps. A total of 29 games were played in the first half of the tournament.

The runners-up of IPL 2020 continued their good run as Delhi capitals are placed in the first position of the points table. The team has secured victories in six matches from the eight that they have played and are the table toppers with 12 points to their account. Chennai Super Kings who had a disappointed IPL 2020 bounced back stronger in this season.

The MS Dhoni-led side exuded their dominance by winning five matches from the seven that they have played. With 10 points to their account, the team is placed at the second spot. The openers of the team Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad provided flying starts to the team and led the side to a successful run in the Indian leg.

Royal Challengers Bangalore were in the talks ahead of the start of the tournament owing to the expensive purchase of Glenn Maxwell in the side. There were discussions on Maxwell’s performances in IPL and thus his inclusion in the team was one of the highlights of the auction. Maxwell delivered some splendid performances for the team and fashioned few wins for RCB. Unlike every year the team had a good start to their season and is placed in the third position on the points table.

The defending champions Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, find themselves in the fourth spot on the points table. The Rohit Sharma-led side has registered four victories from seven matches. They won the title last year when the entire tournament was played in the UAE. They will be now keen to repeat the same this year around.

Rajasthan Royals, Punjab kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Sunrisers Hyderabad will be aiming to get the winning momentum with which they struggled a tad bit in the first half of the tournament.
