IPL 2021 is all set to take off within a week’s time in grand fashion. Although there are a lot of changes with respect to venues and also empty stands, having an IPL in itself is a huge achievement. Players from various countries have joined their respective teams in their bio-bubble and have started training.
When it comes to cricket in India, especially the IPL where the schedules are quite hectic, fitness becomes an essential factor. Playing in the scorching heat in the afternoon games and the high humidity otherwise, does take a toll on the bodies of the players.
Thus, to bat, bowl and field well and with full intensity in these conditions, a certain level of fitness is definitely needed. There are few players whose fitness is right up to the level and which clearly reflects on their game.
Here we list the fittest player from each team in IPL 2021:
1) DC- Kagiso Rabada
The Protean has quickly risen over the ranks with his fiery and pacy bowling. Kagiso Rabada has been the best bowler of the IPL in the last two years. Along with his bowling, another aspect of his success is his fitness.
Fast bowlers are usually very prone to injuries because of their workload. Scientifically, when a fast-bowler jumps while delivering the ball, his/her legs bear nearly four times the entire body weight while landing. Now, this is quite some exertion on the body.
Thus, to play cricket continuously as a pacer, without any injuries, fitness definitely needs to be up to mark. Rabada has, time and again, proved his fitness levels by his bowling and gun fielding and rarely misses matches due to injuries. The Capitals do have other highly fit players like Marcus Stoinis and Tom Curran, but Rabada is definitely the best.
