IPL 2022: 5 uncapped players who can be million-dollar babies in mega auction

Indian Premier League (IPL) is undoubtedly the biggest league going around the world. It is the stage where the youngsters can express themselves, and at the same senior players can redefine themselves by showing their prowess.

IPL is the biggest stage of all where talent flourishes and gets recognition. During this season of the ongoing IPL too, we have seen some new talents emerging. With the mega auctions coming up in 2022, few stars can quote a handsome amount due to their stupendous performances during the ongoing edition of the IPL.

Here are few uncapped players who might fetch a million bucks during the mega auctions

1. Venkatesh Iyer

Sanjay Manjrekar said in one of his interviews that Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opener Venkatesh Iyer could easily fetch 12 to 14 crores in the next year’s mega auction. It won’t be wrong to say that Iyer has taken the IPL by storm due to fearless and attacking batting. His blistering starts upfront has coincided with KKR winning games in the UAE leg of the IPL. The southpaw also scores his runs at a brisk rate and lays a foundation for the remaining batters to break free from the onset.

Iyer can also bowl, and the KKR skipper Eoin Morgan has entrusted him with the responsibility of bowling a few overs as the fifth bowling option. With such all-around skills, the future is bright for the Madhya Pradesh cricketer.  So far, he has scored 201 runs in five games with two fifties to go with. With the two new IPL teams also coming up, few franchises will have the dashing southpaw on their minds.

2. Arshdeep Singh

PBKS’s brightest player during the ongoing edition of the IPL, Arshdeep Singh has been a revelation, to say the least. The left-arm pacer has bowled the tight overs and also taken the responsibility of bowling the tough overs in the powerplay. Arshdeep has ably done both roles to perfection. In the process, he also learned a lot from India pacer Mohammed Shami.

Although Shami has taken 18 wickets so far for PBKS, he would not have been able to do without the support of the left-arm pacer. Together the duo have been lethal. PBKS are out of the playoffs race but they have unearthed a gem in Arshdeep. Left-arm pacers are a rare commodity in the sport. Their angle makes it difficult for the batters to score. The PBKS pacer has great control and maintains discipline lines and lengths.

Over the past few seasons of the IPL, we have seen pace bowlers fetch more prices during the auctions. Arshdeep’s performances might have already interested a few franchises.

3. Avesh Khan

If Arshdeep has been phenomenal for PBKS, then Avesh Khan has looked impressive for the Capitals during the season of the IPL. While Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada have hogged the majority of the limelight due to their pace, Avesh has quietly gone about his job and has provided breakthroughs whenever skipper Rishabh Pant has wanted.

So far, the pacer has taken 22 wickets and is just behind RCB pacer Harshal Patel in the tally of most wickets for this season of the IPL. The youngster has also been economical. But what has been most impressive is his line and length. Avesh has hardly bowled a loose ball. It is this discipline that has reaped him rich rewards during this year’s IPL. Also, he was one of the net bowlers during India’s recent Test tour to England. There he learned a lot from watching Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami.

4. Harshal Patel

Former RCB coach Daniel Vittori narrated an incident of how Harshal Patel begged him to give him one chance during the time he was with RCB from 2012 to 2017. In that very chance, Patel picked up two wickets and impressed the management. As fate would have it, the right-arm pacer returned to the franchise in 2020. RCB director Mike Hesson wanted an experienced Indian pacer, and hence Patel was traded by the Capitals to RCB.

RCB’s fortunes turned ever since they have got the Haryana pacer on board but as he has given skipper Kohli an attacking wicket-taking option. Entrusted with the task of bowling the tough death overs, Patel has so far picked more than 10 wickets in that period. Overall he has picked 26 wickets in 12 games. Patel is also a handy lower-order batter. His skills have not come to the fore so far while batting but the 30-year-old has made a grand statement of sorts by his consistent performances.

5. Ravi Bishnoi

India’s star performer during the Under-19 World Cup in the 2020 edition, Ravi Bishnoi has taken the IPL by storm due to his smart bowling. Snapped by PBKS, Bishnoi has been one of the stories of the IPL. His fast googlies coupled with good fielding has so far been great for the side. In whatever chances that he has got so far, the youngster has looked impressive.

Under head coach Anil Kumble’s guidance, Bishnoi has also added few tricks to his armory. Leg spinners are considered vital members of the team due to their ability to take wickets regularly. So far, the leggie has taken 23 wickets in 22 IPL matches for PBKS.
