​The second week of <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/t20/ipl-indian-premier-league/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>IPL 2022</strong></a> concluded with the match between Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings. Hardik Pandya and Co. managed to beat their opposition by six wickets in a last ball thriller. They are currently the only side that is undefeated in the tournament.

The second week witnessed some outstanding individual performances, whether it was Avesh Khan’s magical spell against Sunrisers Hyderabad or Pat Cummins&#8217; whirlwind fifty against Mumbai Indians.

Every year,  IPL brings an opportunity for players to showcase their talent in the world&#8217;s toughest T20 league. The opportunity also comes up with immense pressure to perform with the entire world keeping a close eye. While many had an exceptional time in the last week, some players also failed to perform as per expectations.

Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma is one of the most destructive openers in world cricket at present. His ability to play big innings has enabled him to become one of the greatest batters in white-ball cricket. Since 2013, Sharma has been captaining Mumbai Indians and under his leadership, the team has lifted five IPL trophies. There’s no doubt he is one of the most successful players in the history of the IPL, he has looked far from his best so far in IPL 2022.

After a decent start against Delhi Capitals, where he scored 41 runs, the 34-year-old managed to accumulate only 13 runs in the next outings. The Mumbai batter looked uncomfortable against the swing of <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/i-had-never-thought-i-would-play-for-india-as-it-was-beyond-my-imagination-umesh-yadav-opens-up-about-his-journey/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Umesh Yadav</strong></a> and Rasikh Salam.

Mumbai will hope their captain to return to form as they look to secure their first win of the season when they play Royal Challengers Bangalore.

IPL 2022 did not start on a good note for CSK opener <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/well-done-orange-cap-holder-twitter-not-impressed-after-ruturaj-gaikwad-scores-a-duck-against-kkr/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Ruturaj Gaikwad</strong></a>. Former Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli started IPL 2022 as a player for the first time since 2012. In his first outing against the Punjab Kings, Kohli played a brilliant knock of 41* off 29 balls and looked in delightful touch.

Australia’s T20 World Cup-winning wicketkeeper-batsman was bought by Gujarat Titans, in the 2022 mega auction for INR 2.4 crore. For the first time in 11 years, Mathew Wade found an IPL contract on the back of his superlative form in the 2021 <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/natarajan-death-over-specialist-we-missed-him-in-t20-world-cup-former-indian-head-coach-ravi-shatri/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>T20 World Cup</strong></a>. Punjab Kings left no stones unturned to have him back in the 2022 season, shelling out INR 9 crore to avail his services. However, his numbers in the season so far don’t justify his potential. Newly-appointed Chennai Super Kings captain Ravindra Jadeja had a poor start to his captaincy stint, losing the first three matches of the season. The ace all-rounder has struggled to lead the team from the front.

In the match against Punjab Kings, Jadeja came out to bat at No. 4, when the Super Kings were struggling at 22/3. On the third ball of his innings, the southpaw dragged one to his stumps off Arshdeep Singh without troubling the scorers. With the ball in hand, Jadeja failed to contain runs in the middle overs. The West Indies all-rounder has been a part of Chennai Super Kings since 2011. He has been one of their star performers over the years and also played a crucial role in IPL 2021. However, Dwayne Bravo has failed to live up to his reputation this season.

In the game against Punjab Kings, Bravo gave away 32 runs in three overs at an economy of 10.67 and managed to pick up just one wicket. With the bat, he got out on a golden duck. Bravo pressed forward to defend but the ball looped up in the air before Liam Livingstone plucked a stunning catch off his own bowling.

However, CSK back him to return to form given his immense experience of playing this format. In 154 matches, he picked 172 wickets and scored 1538 runs.

The 29-year-old Daniel Sams had a very ordinary outing for Mumbai Indians in the last two matches. He has been erratic with his line and length and has looked in rhythm. With regards to bowling at the death, he was taken to the cleaners by Rajasthan Royals batters.

Against the Royals, Sams gave away 32 runs at an economy of 8 runs per over and also went wicketless. In the next game against Kolkata Knight Riders, the <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ecb-unveil-englands-jersey-for-the-upcoming-mens-t20-world-cup-in-australia/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Aussie</strong></a> gave runs at an economy of 16.67. In three overs, he conceded 50 runs and in the 16th over he leaked 35 runs, allowing KKR to win with 24 balls to spare. So far in IPL 2022, Sams has failed to make his mark.

<p>Prasidh Krishna’s bowling in the death was one of the key factors that helped Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) reach the finals of IPL 2021. A key component of KKR’s battery, Prasidh scalped 12 wickets in 10 games last season.</p>

<p>​The second week of <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/t20/ipl-indian-premier-league/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>IPL 2022</strong></a> concluded with the match between Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings. Hardik Pandya and Co. managed to beat their opposition by six wickets in a last ball thriller. They are currently the only side that is undefeated in the tournament.</p>
<p>The second week witnessed some outstanding individual performances, whether it was Avesh Khan’s magical spell against Sunrisers Hyderabad or Pat Cummins&#8217; whirlwind fifty against Mumbai Indians.</p>
<p>Every year,  IPL brings an opportunity for players to showcase their talent in the world&#8217;s toughest T20 league. The opportunity also comes up with immense pressure to perform with the entire world keeping a close eye. While many had an exceptional time in the last week, some players also failed to perform as per expectations.</p>

<p>Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma is one of the most destructive openers in world cricket at present. His ability to play big innings has enabled him to become one of the greatest batters in white-ball cricket. Since 2013, Sharma has been captaining Mumbai Indians and under his leadership, the team has lifted five IPL trophies. There’s no doubt he is one of the most successful players in the history of the IPL, he has looked far from his best so far in IPL 2022.</p>
<p>After a decent start against Delhi Capitals, where he scored 41 runs, the 34-year-old managed to accumulate only 13 runs in the next outings. The Mumbai batter looked uncomfortable against the swing of <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/i-had-never-thought-i-would-play-for-india-as-it-was-beyond-my-imagination-umesh-yadav-opens-up-about-his-journey/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Umesh Yadav</strong></a> and Rasikh Salam.</p>
<p>Mumbai will hope their captain to return to form as they look to secure their first win of the season when they play Royal Challengers Bangalore.</p>

<p>Former Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli started IPL 2022 as a player for the first time since 2012. In his first outing against the Punjab Kings, Kohli played a brilliant knock of 41* off 29 balls and looked in delightful touch.</p>
<p>Since then, Kohli has been out of runs as Royal Challengers Bangalore&#8217;s top-order collapsed in the last couple of games. The 33-year-old talismanic run-scorer scored 15 in the next game against Kolkata Knight Riders. He was quite unfortunate to get run-out on a score of just 5 against Rajasthan Royals.</p>
<p>Although <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/surely-hes-in-the-mix-ravi-shastri-explains-why-dinesh-karthik-can-find-a-place-in-indias-t20-wc-squad/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Dinesh Karthik</strong></a>&#8216;s rich form has saved RCB a couple of times this season, the management will hope their  star player to knock off runs from the next game.</p>

<p>Veteran Karnataka batsman Manish Pandey has had a rocky start to IPL 2022. The right-handed batter has managed to accumulate only 22 runs in the first three games. Pandey, who purchased for INR 4.6 crore, has failed to live up to expectations so far in this season.</p>

<p>Australia’s T20 World Cup-winning wicketkeeper-batsman was bought by Gujarat Titans, in the 2022 mega auction for INR 2.4 crore. For the first time in 11 years, Mathew Wade found an IPL contract on the back of his superlative form in the 2021 <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/natarajan-death-over-specialist-we-missed-him-in-t20-world-cup-former-indian-head-coach-ravi-shatri/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>T20 World Cup</strong></a>. However, the southpaw has failed to replicate the same for Gujarat.</p>
