The Indian Premier League 2022 has almost come to an end with Gujarat Titans (GT) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) up against each other in the Final to take the trophy home. The Indian and overseas players have put their best foot forward to deliver for their respective team and gain traction among their national selectors.

In his latest interaction, the former Indian cricketer Nikhil Chopra shared his Best XI of this season. He chose Hardik Pandya as his captain and felt that the all-rounder has led from the front in the season. Chopra added that Pandya had set the tone for the Titans to help them reach the finals of IPL 2022.

Nikhil Chopra chooses Ashish Nehra as head coach of his Best XI

Chopra opined on some players like Rahul Tripathi, Andre Russell and Arshdeep Singh. Tripathi emerged as one of the leading run-scorers for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) with 413 runs. The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Andre Russell scored 335 runs and also took 17 wickets, and was one of the finest players for KKR this season. On the other hand, Arshdeep was terrific with his death bowling which has earned him a national call-up.

Chopra reckoned that Ashish Nehra will manage his Best XI team, and will keep the players cool in the dressing room. He added that the presence of the former Indian fast bowler will bring the best out of most of the players.

“Tripathi will be coming at number three in my Best XI. If Russell starts to fire, no one can stop his sixes and Arshdeep for the death bowling. Then Nehra Ji [Ashish Nehra] will be managing the team and will keep the dressing room atmosphere cool. To get the best out of the players, you need Mr Nehra in the dressing room,” said Chopra on the ‘Not Just Cricket’ Show on CricTracker powered by Sky247.net.

Chopra’s Best XI of IPL 2022: Jos Buttler, KL Rahul, Rahul Tripathi, Hardik Pandya (c), David Miller, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Andre Russell, Rashid Khan, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Shami, Yuzvendra Chahal.

Coach: Ashish Nehra
