After a shocking loss against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians returned well to defeat Royal Challengers Bangalore for the 2nd time in this IPL season to strengthen their playoffs chances. MI defeated RCB by 6 wickets at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. After being asked to bat, the home team posted 151/4 thanks to some tight bowling from MI bowlers. KL Rahul top scored for RCB with an unbeaten 68. Mumbai struggled in the middle overs during the chase but big hitters Kieron Pollard and Jos Buttler helped them wrap up the chase with 8 balls to spare. Here we look at all the stats and records recorded during the game.

1 – For the first time in his IPL, RCB failed to score 170+ with the bat. In fact, this is also the first time they failed to concede more than 170 with the ball.

2 – Krunal Pandya became the 2nd bowler to dismiss AB de Villiers twice in an IPL season. CSK’s S Jakati got ABD twice in 2011 season.

2 – For the first time in IPL, MI have defeated RCB twice in league stage in an IPL season. MI won at least 1 game in league stage vs RCB in last 8 seasons but this is the first time they won in both games.

4 – Number of fifty plus scores KL Rahul has recorded in this IPL, all came in losing cause. Only Shikhar Dhawan had more fifty plus scores in losing cause in an IPL edition.

6 – For the 6th time, Rohit Sharma has scored more than 400 runs in an IPL season. Suresh Raina done it in 7 different seasons.

6 – For the 6th time, MI defeated RCB at Chinnaswamy, the joint most matches a team has won against a single opponent at a particular venue in IPL.

7 – Runs scored by Virat Kohli in this game. This is the first time he has scored less than 10 runs in this IPL. This is also his first single digit score in Twenty20 cricket in last 18 innings.

15 – Runs conceded by Krunal Pandya in his 4 overs. These are the joint 2nd fewest a spinner conceded in his 4-overs quota in an IPL game.

75 – Number of matches in which Rohit Sharma has been part of winning team in IPL. Only Suresh Raina (86) and MS Dhoni (81) were more often on winning sides.

79 – Number of matches MI won in IPL history, the joint most by any team.

133 – Matches played by Virat Kohli in IPL. All of them have been for RCB. These are now the most matches played for a single team in IPL by a player. Suresh Raina played in 132 games for CSK in IPL.

151/5 – This is RCB’s 3rd lowest total while batting first at Bangalore in IPL. Two of the three such lowest totals came vs MI.

400 – Number of sixes Kieron Pollard has hit in Twenty20 cricket. He became only the 2nd player to hit 400 sixes in this format. Chris Gayle, the only other player to hit 400 sixes has actually hit over 600 sixes in this format.

3705 – Runs scored by Virat Kohli in IPL. All of those have come for RCB. These are now the most runs by a player for a single team in IPL. Suresh Raina scored 3699 runs for CSK in IPL.
