Warm welcome to the Grand Finale of Lanka Premier League third edition. The two teams that toppled the table toppers are here to play the finals. Its Jaffna Kings up against the Colombo Stars in Winners-Take all contest at Colombo on 23rd December, Thursday.
Jaffna Kings, after defeating Kandy Falcons now will defend the title in Colombo and would look to continue their winning run in the finals of LPL.
Colombo Stars, on the other hand, after toppling the two time finalists and table toppers are now one step away in registering their maiden LPL title. This is the first final appearance for Colombo Stars and they would be looking to repeat the last two performances. Both the teams were defeated by Kandy Falcons in league stage twice and both have defeated the Kandy Falcons when it mattered the most
Speaking about the Head-to-Head fixtures, both sides have met each other in six encounters so far with Jaffna emerging victorious four times and Colombo two. Notably, the Kings have lifted the trophy in both the previous editions in 2020 and 2021. The Stars finished as semi-finalists two years back and ended up fourth in last year’s edition.

As mentioned, both teams met earlier in the competition in Match no. 19 in which the Kings snatched a victory by 8 Wickets margin. Put into bat first, Colombo Stars posted a ordinary total of 128/9 in 20 overs with Dominic Drakes and Nishan Madushanka contributing 38,35 respectively. Experienced duo of Thisara Perera and Shoaib Malik picking up two wickets each. In reply, Jaffna Kings completed the chase inside 16 overs with 8 wickets remaining. Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Avishka Fernanado contributed 69 and 40 making the chase so easy.
