Last year, the final of the Pakistan Super League 2 was played in Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, in which some of the star overseas players backed out from playing owing to security concerns. However, the final was a successful event in which no troubles arose. Following that, a world XI agreed to tour Pakistan which, again, was pulled off without any problems.

Next month, the West Indies cricket team will be traveling to Pakistan for three T20Is, to be played on April 1, 2 and 3. And after that, the playoffs and the final of the on-going PSL 3 will be played at Karachi and Lahore respectively. The resurrection of cricket in the war-torn country is slowly taking place, and now the foreign players are not as hesitant as before about traveling to Pakistan.

PSL has a high standard of cricket, says Duminy

On Wednesday, South Africa all-rounder JP Duminy confirmed that he will travel to Pakistan with Islamabad United for the playoffs and final and that he is convinced with the security arrangements made by the officials.

“I will be coming to Pakistan with the Islamabad United squad to for the playoffs and the final in Karachi,” the South African, who will play for Mumbai Indians in IPL 11, was quoted as saying by The Dawn.

Duminy was also of praise for the standard of cricket PSL 2018, saying they have an entertaining end. “It’s definitely a high standard of cricket,” he said. “You have seen the matches, the way they end, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the standard.”

He also pointed out about the emergence of new talent in the league – like Hasan Ali in the first edition of Azad Kashmir’s Salman Irshad.

“It also shows in the success that Pakistan international team had last year. You can see it through the youth that is coming through within this tournament and it is exciting to see, especially for Pakistan.”
