Prior to the match between the Winnipeg Hawks and the West Indies B team, David Warner was handed over the captaincy of the Hawks as Dwayne Bravo, their initially appointed skipper pulled himself out of the tournament owing to an injury. With the willow, he has scored 12 runs in four matches, six of which came in today’s encounter against Anthony Bramble and Co.

Warner epitomizes exhilaration and it requires a herculean effort from the bowlers and fielders to get rid of the big fish. He spanked a boundary to commence his innings, but Justin Greaves cut short his knock with a titanic effort at the long on boundary. Pacer Derval Green dug in a well-directed bouncer at Warner. The left-hander is born and brought up on fast and bouncy Australian wickets.

Greaves’ stupendous effort

Hence, the delivery wasn’t expected to ruffle his feathers. The delivery was outside the off-stump and its bounce wasn’t steep. The bounce wasn’t an issue for Warner, but he had to fetch the ball from outside the off-stump. He connected, but the bat turned in his hand and its face ended up towards the heavens. The leather gained altitude, but the question was that whether it had enough legs to clear the ropes.

However, it was inside the field restrictions and in order to be safe, one only needs to clear the infield. The ball went miles up in the air and the wind ensured that it swivelled in the air for long. It provided the opportunity for Greaves to run backwards and he got himself into an excellent position to grasp the ball. The breeze blowing at around 12 to 14 kmph ensured that the ball moved away from the fielder.

Nevertheless, the fielder dived full length on to his back and held on to the ball with both hands. He timed his dive to perfection and also made sure that he doesn’t end up landing on his elbow, which would’ve allowed the ball to pop out of his palms. Green erupted in jubilation following the masterclass of a catch by his teammate.
