Kagiso Rabada had already put himself into trouble with his send off to Steve Smith after dismissing the Australian captain in the first innings of the ongoing second test match against Australia. He had received 3 demerit points for nudging Smith while going past him and had reached the threshold of 8 demerit points qualifying him for an automatic 2-match suspension. He challenged that charge though which will be further looked into by the match referee Jeff Crowe, but meanwhile, he has created another issue for himself.

The 22-year old speedster was out there bowling during Australia’s second innings with the sword of suspension hanging over his shoulders, but that didn’t stop him from getting aggressive again and this time it was Steve Smith’s deputy David Warner who came in his line of fire.

A little more fire to his bowling acumen

After knocking Warner over with an absolute brute of a ball which came back into the left-hander, Rabada screamed right into Warner’s face in his celebration and it didn’t sit well with ICC again as they charged him with Level 1 offense for that.

The news came through during the third day’s play. So there obviously has been no response on it from the South African camp yet, but one thing is for sure that Rabada is not helping himself with these celebrations. He has already had suffered suspensions in the past and had missed a crucial test match against England last year. Now there is a big possibility of it happening again if the match referee doesn’t soften his stand on that Steve Smith issue.

If Rabada remains out of the next two test matches, it will be immensely difficult for South Africa to beat Australia as the performance of the other two quicks Vernon Philander and Lungi Ngidi and even of Morne Morkel, who had played in the first test match, has not been up to the mark. Rabada puts the sting in this Proteas attack and it will be far weaker in his absence.
