Pakistan’s Kamran Akmal raked up the headlines recently for lashing out at selectors after his snub from the squad for three-match T20I series against Bangladesh at home. Senior players like Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez marked their return in the shortest format of the game, but Akmal was left out even after delivering consistent performances in the domestic circuit.

Despite finishing as the second-highest run-scorer in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2019-20, the wicketkeeper-batsman was overlooked by the selection committee. Akmal had also delivered impressive performances in PSL 2019, amassing 906 runs in 11 matches at an astounding average of 60.40.

After being hurt by the snub, Akmal had taken to Twitter to express that he was hurt and heartbroken after constantly being ignored by the selection committee, adding that he won’t give up and work harder to pave his way back into the Pakistan side.

Kamran Akmal chooses the MS Dhoni-led side

Meanwhile, Akmal was recently involved in a Q&A session on Twitter with his followers where he responded to a plethora of questions. From his favourite bowler to his favourite Bollywood star– Akmal was candid about all the questions that were hurled at him on Twitter.

When asked to name his favourite Indian Premier League team, Akmal picked MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings. Akmal was a part of Rajasthan Royals in the inaugural season of IPL where he played five matches including the final of the tournament against Chennai Super Kings. Royals clinched the trophy in the foremost season of IPL and Akmal had picked two catches in the first innings of the final.

Furthermore, Kamran Akmal also heaped praise on Team India’s two batting stalwarts– Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Akmal picked up Kohli as the best batsman amid the ‘Fab 4’ of the modern era while he picked Rohit Sharma as the player whose sixes he loves watching the most.

Akmal, who is eagerly eying his comeback into the national side, has played 53 Tests, 157 ODIs, and 58 T20Is in a career spanning over almost two decades. He has amassed 3236 runs while donning the Pakistan jersey in One-day Internationals including five tons and 10 half-centuries.
