Indian Test player Karn Sharma will be seen in a new team in the forthcoming Ranji Trophy season. The effective all-rounder has been roped in by The Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) in an effort to bolster their squad. Sharma will now represent the Vidarbha team after moving on from his previous team, Railways.

Karan Sharma resigned from his job at the Railways as he signed the contract with his new team. The leg spinner has featured in 2 ODIs for the national team and has played a Test and a T20 each. The decision to bag Karn Sharma came after the departure of Ambati Rayudu. Rayudu, who was a part of the Vidarbha team last season, will represent Hyderabad in the next season under Arjun Yadav as stop-gap coach. Following his departure the team was keen on finding a replacement quickly. Though another Indian international in the name of Piyush Chawla was available to the Vidarbha Association, they decided to go with the 29 year old Sharma.

Hailing from the land of Praveen Kumar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Karn Sharma has a pretty impressive record in the lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL). He was picked up by the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2014 season for a whopping 3.75 crores. The reason behind spending big on the all-rounder was his stellar performance with the Sunrisers in the 2013 season where he contributed immensely by picking up 11 wickets in 13 matches with an economy of 6.60.

He continued his exceptional run of form in the 2014 season too as he bagged 15 wickets under his belt. He announced himself as a batsman when India A toured Australia. One of his notable performances came against South Africa A where went berserk with the bat to take his team over the line in a scintillating run chase. He scored 39 of 16 balls in that match. However, Sharma now plays for Mumbai Indians in the IPL and has been pretty decent for them too.
