Playing in the Indian Premier League is one of the best things that happen for not only the Indian cricketers but also for the foreign players as well. Foreigners not only get a good paycheck for playing with the best of the best of world cricket but also gain some new fans in the process.

Many obscure names got their first taste of IPL cricket and England’s Harry Gurney is one such cricketer, who was picked up by Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2019 auction. Gurney has played for England in 10 ODIs and 3 T20Is, while has played 127 T20 matches picking 148 wickets with a best of 4/17. He had recently retired from FC cricket to focus on T20 franchise career and this led to one fan berating him for playing in IPL.

Fan trolls Gurney for playing in ‘clown’ T20 league

The left-arm seamer came into limelight for his stint with Melbourne Renegades in the BBL 2018-19 and after they won the tournament, Gurney was signed by the KKR team management. He made his debut against RR and picked 2/25, winning the Man of the Match award for the same.

Recently, Harry Gurney tweeted that he was excited for the upcoming double-header IPL weekend, where KKR will be taking on RCB at their own home of Eden Gardens. He posted, “Can’t wait for the doubleheader this weekend. Packed house again tomorrow night, who is coming? @KKRiders”

A fan tweeted, “You enjoying getting money for playing clown cricket not worth it” and then again wrote, “Hahah hardly pretty sober but it’s so obvious going to India to play in pointless league but not ignorant simply making point which everyone else is”

Harry Gurney isn’t one to sit back and came back with a brilliant retort, saying “1. Your punctuality hasn’t improved despite my feedback. 2. IPL is the sixth most watched league of all sports in the entire world.”

Kolkata Knight Riders are placed sixth on the points table with four wins and four losses and will face RCB in a return match. KKR defeated RCB at M Chinnaswamy Stadium previously, when Russell slammed 40 odd runs in just 13 balls to help his team make 51 runs in last 18 balls.
