'Knock out by dad for not qualifying for knockouts' - Shikhar Dhawan's hilarious take after PBKS exit IPL 2022

Shikhar Dhawan came up with yet another humourous post on Instagram in reference to his franchise getting knocked out of the playoffs of IPL 2022. The left-hander finished with 460 runs in 14 games as the highest run-getter for his new franchise Punjab Kings. However, he could not find a place in the Indian T20I squad for the five-match home series against South Africa, which came as a big surprise for many.

Dhawan has been an epitome of consistency in the last few years in the IPL with 500-plus runs for his previous franchise Delhi Capitals in three consecutive seasons and has worked on his T20I game as well. However, he has been omitted on the basis of his age factor and to provide opportunities to the youngsters. He is still optimistic about returning to the Indian T20I squad and recently mentioned about having at least three years of cricket left in him.

Coming back to the video, Dhawan has not been shy about entertaining his fans by making reels and this time he had attempted one with his father. The 36-year-old was spotted acting in a scene from a Bollywood movie and his father had to act by slapping his face. He captioned the video as ‘Knock out by my dad for not qualifying for knockouts’.

Meanwhile, Punjab Kings started off the tournament well with an aggressive mindset and their game plan was quite clear about going after the opposition from ball one. However, they lost their way in the middle of the tournament and could not win games consistently.

The Mayank Agarwal-led side ended up sixth in the points table with seven wins in 14 games. Gujarat Titans, Rajasthan Royals, Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore were the four teams to qualify for the playoffs stages of IPL 2022.
