Preview:

Bellary Tuskers and Belagavi Panthers will lock horns in the first qualifier of the KPL 2019 having finished in top two. Interestingly, the two teams began their campaign facing off each other. The Tuskers came out on the top as they sealed a 5-run in that match. The Bellary team have been quite dominant this season winning four out of six matches. The two defeats they went through were by shortest of margins.

They lost to Bengaluru Blasters by 1 run via VJD method as they lost a wicket just before the rain interruption. In their previous match, Mysuru Warriors, in a do-or-die position, chased down a record 241-run target with a last-ball six. On the other hand, the Panthers won each of their previous three games to finish at No.2. Manish Pandey gave his team the much-needed boost before he left for series with India A.

Weather Condition/Report:

The rains in the state have settled down for now and the playoffs could go uninterrupted. The weather forecast suggests that Wednesday could be a cloudy day and also possible spells of rain. However, the match is expected to be completed without any reduction of overs.

Pitch Condition/Report:

Five out of six matches hosted by Mysore have been won by the teams chasing. The batting first side won the game played at night on Tuesday by 17 runs while defending a total of 195. Teams might prefer to bowl first at this venue especially with the track suiting batsmen under lights. The short boundaries do contribute to the good record of chasing teams.

Average first innings score: 195 (KPL matches in 2019 played in the night)

Record of chasing teams: Won – 2, Lost – 1

Manish Pandey will no longer be part of this tournament.

Expert Advice:

With the move of getting Krishnappa Gowtham at No.3 been a successful one for the Tuskers, they could rotate their batting way too much. Among the batsmen and batting all-rounder, the ones who will open for them can be picked. The rest can be ignored due to uncertainty of where they will bat.

Probable Winners:

Bellary Tuskers might edge past Belagavi Panthers in a thriller.
