Mashrafe Mortaza all set to become the highest paid player in BPL-5

Bangladesh ODI captain Mashrafe Mortaza, who retired from T20I cricket to concentrate on the 50-over format of the game, is all set to become the highest paid player in the fifth edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, who was previously associated with Comilla Victorian is expected to join a new team prior to the start of the tournament with the highest payment.

Mashrafe Mortaza recently signed up for the Rangpur Riders as their icon cricketer for this season. According to reliable sources, the franchise has made an offer of a whopping amount of 85 lacs Taka in order to roping in the Bangladeshi Talisman. Mortaza, who is popularly known as the Narail Express, will receive the amount from the ‘Basundhara Group’ for this year’s BPL. In 54 matches, Mortaza has picked up as many as 42 wickets at an economy of 8.05.

Tamim roped in for 80 lacs

The next in the order for the highest paid player in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is their talismanic opening batsman Tamim Iqbal. His onslaughts against England and Australia in the Iqbal, who had a brilliant run at the recently concluded ICC Champions Trophy is still fresh in the mind. Tamim has been roped in by the Comilla Victorians for a sum of 80 lacs, even though it is safe to say that Tamim has struggled in the shortest format of the game at the international level.

But it is learnt that there are some unique conditions implied in his agreement. If the Comilla Victorians manage to reach the qualifier rounds or the Finals, only then Tamim will get this amount of money from the franchise. The other icon players in the team are Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah Riyad, Mustafizur Rahman, Sabbir Rahman and Soumya Sarkar. The exact prizes for the respective icon players are yet to be disclosed in open.
