Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will square off against Mumbai Indians (MI) in Match 65 of the Indian Premier League 2022. With five wins in 12 appearances, SRH have to win this game to stay in the hunt for the playoffs. On the other hand, MI have only three wins in the same number of appearances as their opponents.

In their last league fixture against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Sunrisers were average with the ball to concede 177 runs, with Umran Malik being the pick of the bowler with three scalps. Although Abhishek Sharma and Aiden Markram provided contributions of 43 and 32 respectively, others failed and the team lost by 54 runs.

After five consecutive victories, SRH have sustained five losses on the trot and are under pressure ahead of this fixture. The form of captain Kane Williamson has been a concern, and the lack of finisher in the middle-order is hurting the team’s chances. The likes of Markram and Abhishek need to continue their fine form for the team.

On the other hand, MI faced their arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their last outing and secured a five-wicket victory. The all-rounder Daniel Sams was the best performer with figures of 3/16 to dismiss CSK for 97. In reply, MI struggled but chased down the score with a 48-run partnership between Tilak Varma and Hrithik Shokeen.

With three victories in the last four appearances, Mumbai are in a good space of mind and would look to compete well in the remaining two league matches. These fixtures will also serve as an opportunity for captain Rohit Sharma to try out new players.

Pitch and conditions

Over the years, the surface at the Wankhede Stadium has offered strong assistance to the batters and the same is expected in this fixture as well. The team chasing down the score has won most of the games at this venue. With this being a night game, a score of around 180 is expected to be the par total.

Playing combinations for MI vs SRH

Mumbai Indians

MI roped in net bowler Akash Madhwal as the replacement for Suryakumar Yadav. With the team management providing chances to the youngsters in the last few league matches, the fast bowler can earn a place in the XI. With the team securing a comfortable victory eventually in the previous game the morale will be high ahead of this league match.

Probable XI: Rohit Sharma (c), Ishan Kishan (wk), Tilak Varma, Tristan Stubbs, Ramandeep Singh , Tim David, Daniel Sams, Kumar Kartikeya, Hrithik Shokeen, Jasprit Bumrah, Riley Meredith

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Although the team has been in bad form, they are playing with the best possible combination. In the last outing, T Natarajan and Washington Sundar returned to the team after recovering from injury, and will look to improve their performances. The out-of-form batter Shashank Singh can make his way for Abdul Samad.

Probable XI: Abhishek Sharma, Kane Williamson (c), Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Shashank Singh/ Abdul Samad, Washington Sundar, Marco Jansen, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan, Umran Malik
