Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc and women’s cricketer Alyssa Healy got married today after dating for the quite a long period of time. Healy belongs to a cricketing family. Her uncle, Ian Healy, was one of the best wicketkeeper-batsmen Australia ever had.
Incidentally, Alyssa is also a wicket-keeper for the Southern Stars and Australia Women’s team in all formats. She recently was seen playing in the T20 Women’s World Cup 2016 where the Australian Women were outplayed by the West Indians in the final.
The couple got engaged in April last year just after the Ashes squad was announced. The news was revealed by skipper Michael Clarke. Starc and Healy are one of the few couples who have played Test cricket for their country. They are the only second pair of Test cricketers after English couple Roger Prideaux and Ruth Westbrook Prideaux. While Roger played three Tests for England from 1968 to 1969, Ruth appeared in 11 Tests between 1957 and 1963.
Starc, who is currently the bowling spearhead of the Aussie side, has been out of action due to an ankle injury and had to miss a good amount of cricket. He missed the ICC World T20 2016 and the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016.
The couple who have a hectic schedule individually finally found time to walk down the aisle and commit their life to each other. Starc shared the picture of the wedding of their big day on his Instagram account.
The caption was short and sweet, “Mine”
