Mukhtar Ahmed makes record 123 in Pakistan’s domestic T20: Sialkot Region’s opener Mukhtar Ahmed today set a new record in Pakistan’s T20 history against Karachi Region Whites at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Ahmed, who has played 5 T20 Internationals, blasted a 67-ball 123 with 18 fours and 3 sixes at an excellent strike rate of 183.58. The 22-year-old’s 123 is the highest score in domestic T20 games in Pakistan bettering the previous best of 115 by Imran Farhat. Pakistani cricket statistician Mazher Arshad confirmed the record on his twitter page today.

Out of 123, Mukhtar Ahmed scored 90 runs in boundary, which is the second highest in T20s in the country after Bilal Asif (92). The right-handed Ahmed also joined an elite list of batsmen to have scored 2 centuries in T20 cricket in the country.

In the high-scoring encounter, Sialkot Region scored 198/7 and Karachi Region narrowly fell short scoring 191/6 in 20 overs. Ahsan Ali’s 76-run innings went in vain as the Sialkot bowlers held their nerves in the crucial moments of the game.

Apart from his batting prowess Mukhtar is also a handy leg spinner and going by his talent, is certainly a bright prospect for Pakistan.
