KL Rahul is rating so highly in the cricketing fraternity. Despite his recent failures, the cricketer has risen through the ranks and is touted as the next big thing in the Indian cricket. He set the stage on fire in the Indian Premier League (IPL) last year and made a comeback into the national team across all the formats. While the world was busy praising him, Rahul’s parents weren’t the happiest.
Recently, Rahul and Hardik Pandya were invited in the prominent chat show Koffee with Karan hosted by the famous Bollywood producer Karan Johar. The duo had a lot of fun in the show while revealing some of the dressing room and personal secrets. However, when things became serious, the talented Rahul let everyone know of the startling fact that his parents aren’t happy about the choice of his career at all.
I got a job with RBI
KL Rahul went on to say that both of his parents are professors and they wanted him to become an engineer like his sister. They were unhappy with his career choice and still aren’t the happiest when he scores the century. He also added that his mother and father were the happiest when he got a stable job in the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
“My mum, she still gives me grief that she doesn’t have an engineering certificate on the wall. And I tell her that I play for the country and you’re still worried. I got a job with the Reserve Bank of India recently, a couple of years ago. That’s when they were the happiest. Not when I got 100s, not when I won games for the country. They obviously are happy but the happiest they have been is when I got a job, a stable job,” he said on the show.
It is quite interesting that Rahul went against his parents to pursue his dream and is now one of the most followed cricketers in the fraternity. Though he will love it if his parents laud him for his choice of career in the end.
