The former BCCI President N Srinivasan has finally reacted to the harsh allegations raised against him by former Chief selector Dilip Vengsarkar. Earlier, Vengsarkar blamed Srinivasan for removing him from the selector’s huge post due to one of his adamant selection decision. However, the former BCCI President has revealed the reality behind this whole controversy and has quoted all the arguments raised against him as absolutely baseless.

The back story which gave rise to all the accusations against Srinivasan

In his recent comments, Vengsarkar mentioned about being impressed with the current Indian captain Virat Kohli’s performance during the U19 World Cup, after which he picked the flamboyant cricketer for an emerging players tournament in Australia. After Virat’s impressive knock in that competition, the chief selector proposed his name in the selection committee meeting.

And even after some consistent non-support towards his decision, Vengsarkar selected Virat’s name for the national team, which didn’t ought likely for the then BCCI treasurer Srinivasan, who was completely against this decision and wanted Subramanian Badrinath’s name in the team because of his magnificent domestic season.

“He argued that Badrinath has scored over 800 runs for Tamil Nadu. I told him he will get his chance. But the very next day, he took Srikkanth (who replaced Vengsarkar as the chief selector) to Sharad Powar and that was the end of my selection tenure,” said Vengsarkar as quoted by TOI.

The Letter which clears the whole controversial issue

In support of the recent accusations against him, Srinivasan cleared this whole issue stating that Vengsarkar’s removal from the chief selector’s position happened only due to conflicting of interest between the BCCI and the selector. In his recent letter surfaced on the social media, he claims to support no role in the stepping down decision made by Vengsarkar then.

The former BCCI official also mentioned that it is highly pity of Vengsarkar, who is only trying to cast baseless allegations on him and this all is an unacceptable unprofessional behavior. The letter states the complete information and the details regarding the reality behind the chief selector’s removal from his job.
